Day Five

Another VHF radio briefing at 9.30.  We were informed that we would be going from mainland Greece to the island of Paxos.  The bay we were heading for was the most northerly called Lakka.  The winds today started light but picked up as we got closer to Paxos which let us get some decent sailing in travelling around 4-5 knots.  We headed towards the middle of the East side of Paxos and then followed the coast to reach Lakka around 3pm.  We were told there was limited space to moor by the Quay so it was suggested to "free swing" where you could.  This is where you find a space for your boat, drop your bow anchor and then let the boat swing around on that anchor as the wind and tide takes it.  We managed but soon got crowded in as the boat moved around so we abandoned that idea and with the help of the lead crew we ran a rope to the beach to secure the back end of the boat.
The bay is lovely and sheltered if not a little busy with nice shallow water and very clear water, great to snorkel around or bathe in.  We were adventurous in that we took the tender out of the harbor and round the point.  We found a small rocky beach to explore and get some more snorkeling in and then a mad dash to get back in time for the 7pm briefing at the cocktail bar.

Another fantastic day.
