Day Six

Due to having the flotilla briefing at 7 last night we were free to set sail whenever we wanted.  For us this was 10.40 am.  It was a case of un-tethering us from the rock we were tied to and lifting the bow anchor and we were under way.  We had south down the west coast of Paxos.  The coastline was mainly large cliffs with a few caves to explore.  Amy and I took the tender through some caves we found while Diane looked after the boat and stopped it smashing into the cliffs.  There were a lot of big pleasure boats filled with tourists around as well and it was fun trying to avoid those in a small dinghy.  We got drenched once from the wake one of them created.
We headed on south past the bottom of Paxos to the north tip of AntiPaxos heading for Emerald bay.  We anchored up and swam is some crystal clear water and a lovely sandy bay.  There was quite a bit of small fishes but the highlight was an eel, who unfortunately darted back into his hole before I could get a closer picture.
After that we headed back to the southern tip of Paxos looking for the harbor of Monganisi, the wind had picked up and it was great to get all the sails out and make get the boat keeling over a bit.  We arrived at 5.30 which was just enough time for a shower before a group meal organised by the flotilla.  We were treated to a traditional display of Greek dancing which we were encouraged to join in.  Tomorrow is an early start as we have our longest stint yet, 27 miles back to the mainland and to prepare us for our tour of the southern Ionian Islands
