Day One

The coach dropped us off at Plataria where we were introduced to our boat the Mintaka.  Spent some time unpacking and soon realized you have to be very organised as space is limited.  Weather was hot and sunny so we took a dip in the bay.  Water was nice and warm but not very clear here.  When we got back to the boat Amy tried the shower, water was lovely and hot.  As the shower tray is below the water line it the water collects in the tray and needs to be pumped out afterwards.

We met the lead crew at the initial briefing and they went over a few safety tips and told us that we would meet again at 9am tomorrow and to bring our navigation charts and harbor guides so we can plan tomorrows route.

After the briefing we had a meal at Olgas, a Taverna right on the shore with alfresco dining.  It was a lovely evening and great to able to enjoy the food outside.

A quick stroll along the promenade to watch the sunset and then back to the boat.

Lots to learn about the boat in the coming days.  Today we learnt

  • To ensure to the passerelle was lifted slightly off the quay to stop it clattering as the boat moves.
  • How the toilets work
  • How the showers work
  • How to fit a windt scoop to channel the wind into the boat.
